An "Electric Powered Flying Model Airplane" |
Inside view of a "Fireball" (modeled after the P-51D Mustang) overlaid by a drawing from the patent papers. |
The model corresponds exactly to US patent 4,067,139, "Electric Powered Flying Model Airplane" (filed in 1976 and issued in1978). The model was made from a minimum of parts to keep production costs low. Assembly required no soldering, yet the model contains the complete electric power unit with motor and two NiCd cells. Additionally, the motor can be switched "on" using the elevator control lines. Recharging was done using a 6 Volt lantern battery as indicated in the drawing. A great looking, but fragile semi-scale model. |
